Sorry, I’m not talking about having a pint. This article is about a different kind of tea that may just change your life, green tea.

Highly regarded as one of the healthiest drinks in existence, green tea is a dynamo. There are multiple reasons why you should be drinking green tea.

Drinking green tea is literally one of the best things you can put into your body. I can tell you one thing…….The green tea health benefits list is long.

Many people do not realize just how powerful tea can be for overall health and wellness.

Cancer, heart disease, weight gain, depression…….All of these ailments are in the scope of green tea’s list of things to eliminate.

I must admit, many times when I write for Workout Dad it’s after a full day of work. I am beat, many times my mind is just looking for excuses not to write.

On nights when I need to write no matter what the first thing I do after the kids go to bed is drink green tea.

It keeps me alert and awake, without the jitters or inability to go to sleep when I am done writing.

Tea is definitely something to take into account when we are talking about our overall health as dads.

What Exactly Is Green Tea?

Green tea consists of the leaves of the camellia sinensis plant. When dried and steeped in hot water the nutrient rich goodness flows out like a rainbow of awesome.

The “green” in green tea represents the fact that unlike other teas, green tea leaves have not undergone the oxidation process.

In hence it’s like baby tea that has not yet been corrupted by your neighborhood creep kid.

Why Drinking Green Tea Is A Good Idea….

For starters the stuff has been around for centuries. If you want to impress your mother in law learn some tea history here and sip it at dinner like a joyous chap while spewing facts.

Green tea has been a huge part of many cultures for a very long time. Some accounts date back 3,000 to 5,000 years. It was considered medicine to the highest order, reserved only for the wealthy.

The benefits are really impressive, plus you don’t need to be royalty to get it anymore.


How Do I make My Green Tea?

When I make my tea I simply yell to my wife while I am searching for the hot pot that is right in front of my face.

After she shows me rudely where it is and gives me the look of doom I start boiling up some clean water.

Then I grab one tea bag. The everyday quick and affordable tea I enjoy is the Bigelow brand organic green tea.

After the water is ready, steep the bag….. here’s the thing……Only steep the tea for around 3 minutes tops. My thick headed man brain always thought longer is better…..Not for this, too long and it get’s a more bitter taste and is nowhere near as good.

Adding honey will make this a real nature walk, I prefer the green tea and water….Nothing else.

3 Minute later…..

Grab your star wars mug, sit down to enjoy.

I know that many of you don’t want me to sit here and copy the same crap all over the internet about green tea benefits.

You want real world dad that’s tired and beat benefits!

Ok…. I’ll drink the kool Aid and report:

Green Tea’s effects

The greatness of green tea is the fact that it is indeed healthy, plus it provides a great boost of energy without being too strong. Antioxidants are packed in every sip…..What’s not to love? You get all of this healthy stuff as well as a nice energy pick up without the jitters.

I find that if I drink a cup of green tea before I start writing I can think much clearer and stay focused longer on the task at hand.

Weight loss is another great effect of green tea, this is why you see the cheese ball “green tea” weight loss pills next to the other crap supplements on the shelf of uncle Guido’s supplement shop.

Why not just drink the real thing?

Find a good quality organic green tea and have a cup in the morning before your workout or any time you want a healthy boost throughout the day.
